Salary Intelligence

About Salary Intelligence

Most salary tools tell you what you earn. This one tells you what you keep.

πŸ’‘

Why this exists

Salary Intelligence was built by Toriq Davids β€” someone with a background in financial management who got frustrated that the answer to "what do I actually take home?" was never simple or instant. Gross salary numbers are everywhere. Honest after-tax breakdowns, updated for the current year, for every US state, were surprisingly hard to find.

So this got built.

The goal is simple: useful tools that give real answers. If you found one of them helpful, it's doing its job.

How it works

Every calculation runs in your browser using the current year's IRS tax brackets, FICA limits, and each state's published tax schedules. Nothing is estimated from averages or outdated data. Results update instantly β€” no account required, no email address, no paywalls.

All 50 states plus Washington D.C. are supported, across four filing statuses: single, married filing jointly, married filing separately, and head of household. Employer-side FICA is shown so you can see the true cost of your employment β€” not just what appears on your W-2.

Our commitment

Free, always. There is no premium tier. Every calculator and every page is free, with no account required.

No unnecessary tracking. Calculator inputs β€” your salary, state, filing status β€” are processed entirely in your browser and are never sent to any server. We do not store your salary data.

Updated annually. Tax brackets, FICA limits, and state rates are reviewed and updated each January when new IRS and state revenue department publications are released.

Accurate, not advice. Results are estimates based on standard deductions and marginal rates. For your specific situation β€” especially if you have significant deductions, investment income, or business income β€” consult a qualified tax professional.

Toriq Davids has a background in financial management and built Salary Intelligence to answer one question clearly: what does a salary actually pay after tax? The tools on this site are updated annually using IRS and BLS published data.
